01What is Beyond?+
Beyond is an app for recording video messages and making them available at a future date. You can leave a message for a birthday, anniversary, special occasion or any meaningful future moment.
02Where are my videos stored?+
Your videos are saved locally on your mobile device. Beyond does not upload your videos to the cloud.
03What does “Unlock on…” mean?+
Each video has an unlock date. Before that date, it cannot be viewed. When that day arrives, the video becomes available.
04How is a video protected?+
In addition to the date, each message can be protected with a video user and a video password. Only with that information can the message be opened and played.
05Can I create multiple messages for the same person?+
Yes. You can create as many messages as you like, even for the same recipient. They will appear as separate messages.
06How do I send a message to another person?+
Open the message and use “Export this message”. This creates a file that you can send via WhatsApp, email, AirDrop or another sharing method. The other person can add it to their phone using “Import a message”.
07How do I change my mobile phone and take everything with me?+
On the User screen, use “Export copy” to export all your messages. On the new mobile device, use “Import backup” to restore everything. This works as a full move to another device.
08Does importing a full copy erase previous data?+
It depends on the version and configuration, but usually “Import backup” is used to restore everything and may replace existing data. “Import a message” is used to add messages one by one without deleting previous ones. To add messages, use “Import a message”. To change mobile phone, use “Import backup”.
09What is the “Document for notary/lawyer/executor”?+
It is a fillable PDF form used to leave clear instructions for a trusted person, such as a notary, lawyer, executor, family member or friend. When the time comes, that person can follow the instructions to access the phone if applicable and legally permissible, export messages from Beyond and deliver them to the recipients so they can import them onto their own phones. It is a practical guide to facilitate future delivery, especially in sensitive situations.
10Can Beyond automatically send messages if I pass away?+
No. Beyond does not send anything automatically. Delivery is done through export and import, ideally with the help of a trusted person following the document.
11Can I delete a video?+
Yes. You can delete a video from the message list. For security reasons, some sensitive actions may require your PIN or mobile biometrics.
12What is the Recovery Key?+
When you create an account, Beyond generates a Recovery Key. This key is used to reset your password if you forget it. It is shown only once when you register. You can copy it or save/print it as a PDF. You should store it outside the phone, on paper or in a safe place.
13Where is the Recovery Key stored?+
The key is not stored as plain text on your phone. For security reasons, Beyond only stores a hash, and you only have the actual key when you view or save it.
14Can I regenerate the Recovery Key?+
Yes. In the User section, you can regenerate the recovery key. This creates a new key, and the old one will no longer work. Make sure to save the new key safely, either as a PDF or on paper.
15Can I use Beyond in multiple languages?+
Yes. In User → Language, you can choose Automatic, based on your system language, or select a language manually.
16What is Appearance and how does it work?+
In User → Appearance, you can change the background using presets or your own image, adjust readability by darkening or blurring the background, and change interface contrast using Auto, Light or Dark mode.
17Do I need internet to use Beyond?+
Not for recording or viewing your local messages. You only need internet for external actions such as sharing files through other apps or opening web links.
18Does Beyond collect data?+
Beyond is designed to work primarily locally. Please review the Privacy Policy to understand exactly what data is used and for what purpose.
19What usage ideas does Beyond have?+
Beyond can be used for birthdays, anniversaries, messages for your children in future stages such as turning 18, graduation or wedding, video letters for when you are not around, messages of support for a family member on a specific date, important legal, family or personal instructions, messages of reconciliation or gratitude, and family memories such as stories, advice and traditions.
20What happens if I lose the Recovery Key?+
Without the password, you cannot recover that account. That is why it is essential to save the Recovery Key outside your phone and, if you want, as a printed PDF.
